School Security for Teachers
We offer a 4-hour course for Preschool/Elementary School Teachers, one for Middle/High School Teachers, and one for College/University Teachers.
- Welcome and Introduction - 30 minutes
- Objectives

- What Can You Do?
- BEFORE - 1 hour - an emphasis on prevention of incidents and how to recognize warning signs.
- DURING - 1 hour - how to decide on a course of action and respond appropriately to an emergency including what to do when law enforcement arrives.
- AFTER - 1 hour - what to do in the immediate aftermath of an incident and in the weeks and months that follow.
- Other Considerations - 15 minutes
- The problem with zero-tolerance policies
- The importance of a school-wide program and administrative support.
- Summary and Conclusion - 15 minutes
- Questions - as much time as needed
Our 8-hour class covers the same topics as the 4-hour class, but goes into more detail and includes practical exercises as outlined below.

- PRACTICAL EXERCISE: role-playing conflict resolution scenarios
- DURING - 2 hours - how to decide on a course of action and respond appropriately to an emergency including what to do when law enforcement arrives.
- PRACTICAL EXERCISE: recognizing attacker vulnerabilities
- PRACTICAL EXERCISE: evacuation drill
- PRACTICAL EXERCISE: simulation of law enforcement response
- AFTER - 2 hours - what to do in the immediate aftermath of an incident and in the weeks and months that follow.
- PRACTICAL EXERCISE: securing the scene

At the conclusion of this course, you will be certified in First AId, Bloodborne Pathogens, and CPR/AED at the Healthcare Provider Level.
